  4. Direct API integration. The highest-effort option and the cleanest result. The contractor’s field service software makes API calls to the CMMS after each visit closes. This requires the contractor to have a field service platform that supports API output and the facility team to provide API credentials. Appropriate for high-volume facilities or multi-site operators where manual steps accumulate into significant labor cost.
  5. QR code asset tagging with mobile CMMS scan. Some platforms support asset QR codes that a contractor tech can scan on arrival and on departure to log time-on-asset and attach field photos directly to the equipment record. This is a low-integration approach that still improves data quality over paper reports.
